From Mall of America, Bloomington, MN
10 hours 50 minutes/660.16 miles
Ok, sure, this “Mega Mall” might have 520 stores occupying over 4.2 million square feet, but come on – it’s a mall! What fun is that? And really, why schlep all those millions of feet just to see chain stores and merchandise you can find in countless other places? Puh-leeze!  Even the most rabid mallrats crave something different now and then. So hey, road trip! Come shop different…shop downtown Howell. BTW – BYO corn dogs, unless you’re visiting during one of our many annual festivals.

From Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, CA
33 hours 54 minutes /2265.21 miles
Now that the movers and shakers of Hollywood are hip to the benefits of doing business in Michigan, can the power shoppers of Beverly Hills be far behind? We think not! When they all begin to arrive here on the mitten, where else would they shop first but in our tres chic city? Rilly, dahling, what do Prada and Bulgari have over our own Pur-Se, Le Boutique and Lady Rebecca’s? Heck, those La-La Landers  may even learn how to smile through the Botox!

From Tokyo (after landing at New York LaGuardia Airport)
10 hours 45 minutes/655.48 miles, plus flight time/miles
We’re friendly, easy-going folks, so far be it from us to begrudge Tokyo the title of  “World Cuisine Capital,” as bestowed upon them by the Michelin Food Guide. Still, we don’t recall seeing any of those Michelin rating dudes chowing through Happy Hour at Cleary’s, tucking into a steak at Diamond’s, supping on Chinese Delight’s or Thai Café’s exquisite Asian far, or knocking back a botana at Mexicali Allie’s. So forget any possible oversight: we just want to invite our friends from Tokyo to come and eat different, Downtown Howell style. Iron Chef vs. Copper Pickle? Hmmm….

From most any mall or big box store
You’re where? Ok, ok – don’t panic. Everything’s going to be alright. Just get to some reasonably safe place (not the mall parking lot, nor the food court), close your eyes, click your heels together and repeat “There’s no place like Howell. There’s no place like Howell…”

From Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties
Taking the route of your choice, travel west and, for most of you, a ways north.  You’ll notice the landscape turn more lush and green, the sky a little more clear, and the smiles of the folks you pass a little warmer and wider.  Keep going – you’re heading in the right direction.  Now roll down your windows. Hear that festive music in the streets, the laughter, and - on the hour - the ring of our old bell tower? Feeling that unmistakably friendly vibe? Loving the beautiful, historic buildings? Then yep, you’re here. Pull over, park for free (meters? We have no use for ‘em!) and prepare to be wowed.

From Paradise
Hey, even folks who live in Paradise want a change of scenery from time to time, right? Visiting Paradisians tell us the shopping, dining and entertainment are all wonderfully different here. We agree (yes, we’ve been to Paradise and back).
