Family Day Trip - Shop Downtown Howell

Start your family adventure off with coffee, tea, cappuccino, or latte for mom and dad, and fruit smoothies for the kids at Uptown Coffeehouse.

Next, walk two blocks west and visit Aria Booksellers. Meet Mozart the talking parrot and peruse the latest bestsellers and kids serial novels. Mary Ellen Aria will be glad to help you find something special.

Next, stroll over to the historic Howell Carnegie District Library (built in 1906) and, once you’ve taken in it’s stunning interior, sit outside on the library lawn and enjoy the fountain.

Getting hungry? Why not stop by Gus's Carry-Out and snack on some of their out-of-this-world breadsticks, hot from the oven.

As you wander the streets taking in all the sights and sounds, stop by Schafer's House of Music and make some sounds of your own. Want to check out some authentic western wear? No better place to do it than Howell Western Wear. Their selection of clothing, hats, boots, and accessories will have the whole family saying ‘Yee-Haw!” Even Minnie Driver and Hillary Swank shopped there when they were in town filming a movie!

Oh, and especially for the kids: Skaters Advocate is a must stop, as well as Razzmatazz Toys!

Grab a late lunch or early dinner at Mr. B's Rustic Tavern. Mom and dad can order cocktails while the kids play video games and color as your meals are being prepared. Or how ‘bout you bring a blanket, pick up a large pizza at Marco's and eat under the huge elm trees on the Courthouse lawn? A lot of the time there’s special entertainment at the outdoor amphitheatre, with live bands.

After dinner head over to Dairy Queen for some cool treats. Enjoy a Blizzard, Dilly Bar, or a Vanilla Cone with sprinkles. But don’t plan on bringing your day to an end quite yet… you can top off your family outing by catching a movie at the Howell Theater. As you can imagine, there are lots and lots of choices to make your family outing truly special. So come and share in the fun of Howell again and again.
