Downtown Art Walk & Party Celebrates State-Wide Artists Winning Work

Howell Art Project Winning Artists Revealed Downtown Next Week

The Howell Art project brings outdoor art back to the community Wednesday, August 12 with the Howell Art Walk and Party!  The event begins with the unveiling of the top 2 pieces of artwork in each seasonal category that were selected by public vote.  At the art walk and unveiling event, the People’s Choice, 2nd and 3rd place winners will also be announced and presented with a cash prize!  Following the art walk, a fantasy auction event will be held at the Howell Opera House celebrating the artists who participated in the Howell Art Project, as well as offering attendees the opportunity bid on get-aways, once in a lifetime experiences, and more! 

“Our volunteer Design Committee and subcommittee planning members are proud to be bringing the Art Project back to the downtown community,” states Howell Main Street DDA Director, Cathleen Edgerly.  “Art not only brings people together, but by reproducing the winning art pieces and hanging them on the exterior of buildings throughout the district for all to see and enjoy, we are making art accessible to everyone.”
The Evening Schedule for attendees includes:

•    6:00-6:30 p.m. Gathering reception at the Heart of Howell building, 118 W. Grand River Ave. Light appetizers and preview of finalists art pieces included. 
•    6:30-7:30 p.m. Art Walk unveiling of winning art pieces displayed on downtown buildings!
•    7:00 p.m.  Doors open at the Opera House
•    7:30-9:00 p.m.  Awards presentation to artists; auction of art and other auction items at the Howell Opera House. Come prepared to walk away with some amazing items!  The evening's ticketed celebration also includes hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and a cash bar. 

The Art Walk throughout downtown is free and open to the public; however entry to the evening’s celebration event at the Howell Opera House requires a ticket to reserve your seat. Tickets for the event are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.  According to Edgerly, this event is filling up very quickly with over 150 people already having submitted RSVPs for the event  Only 40 tickets are still available so order yours today at http://www.downtownhowell.org/howellartproject/ or call the Main Street DDA office at (517) 545-4240. Proceeds from the event benefit next year’s Howell Art Project and bringing more arts and cultural opportunities to the Howell community.
