Downtown Howell Storefronts to Shine Brighter with Downtown Storefront Decorating Contest

Have a favorite downtown Howell holiday storefront?  This November you can vote for your favorite downtown business to win the Howell Main Street Downtown Development Authority’s (DDA) second annual “Deck the Windows” holiday storefront decorating competition sponsored by Cobb-Hall Insurance.

According to Howell Main Street DDA Director Cathleen Edgerly, shoppers will be able to vote for their favorite holiday storefront online, or via a text-to-vote poll. The winning store will receive a $250 check as well as the coveted Golden Traveling Tree award. This new addition to Howell’s premier holiday event, was designed by the Howell Main Street Promotions committee to attract both residents and visitors to the downtown district, drive more traffic to the businesses, unify the district, and highlight the beauty of downtown Howell during the holiday season.

“Several downtown businesses are already well known for their holiday window displays and unveilings,” explained Edgerly.  “We wanted to build on that excitement, and further beautify the district with this friendly competition held in conjunction with Howell’s fabulous Fantasy of Lights parade.  New this year, we have also added the ‘Mayor’s Choice’ award, so we will be able to recognize two downtown businesses thanks to the generosity of Cobb-Hall Insurance.”

Voting kicks off at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov 23, at www.downtownhowell.org and runs through 8 a.m. Monday, November 30.

“When voting, please remember that our sponsor, Cobb-Hall, will not be eligible to win; however, they’ve promised a dazzling display,” Edgerly said.

Complete rules are available online at http://www.downtownhowell.org/deck-the-windows-decorating-contest/. One vote per person, please; Santa will be watching!
