Community celebrated at upcoming Howell Main Street DDA Applause Awards

April event recognizes volunteers and celebrates achievements

Howell MI – On April 25, the spirit of community and volunteerism will be celebrated by the Howell Main Street DDA as it recognizes the past years’ achievements and the many volunteers who work to make Downtown Howell a great place to live, work, play and stay. The Annual Applause Awards will be held on the 2nd floor at Block Brewing on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, with doors opening at 6 pm. The event is open to all downtown businesses, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community members interested in the improvement of Downtown Howell. Those interested in attending should RSVP by April 7, 2017. The Kellogg Family Foundation proudly sponsors this year’s Applause Awards.

In addition to recognizing volunteers with the Mighty MainStreeter, Downtown Hero, and the coveted Volunteer of the Year awards, the Howell Main Street DDA will also be presenting a Historic Preservation Award to a downtown property and business owner. The Preservation Awards celebrate and recognize stakeholders, especially property owners who have made significant investments in downtown properties over the last year.

“The Applause Awards are really for two groups,” said Cathleen Edgerly, executive director of the DDA and COO of Howell Main Street, Inc. “First and foremost, it’s an evening of celebration to honor our many volunteers, without whom we could not have accomplished what we have over the past year. Second, it’s a an invitation to the community at large to join us in our efforts to make Howell the best community it can be.”

Edgerly invites anyone interested in the betterment of Downtown Howell to attend. “It’s a great evening’s entertainment, and attendees will come away with a greater sense of what our community is all about.”
