Main Street DDA Art Competition Seeking Public Votes to Determine People’s Choice!

Howell, MI – The popular Main Street DDA Art Competition returns to the streets of downtown Howell next week, with the finalists’ art pieces on display throughout downtown Howell. The public is invited to come downtown and vote for their favorite piece to win the ‘People’s Choice Award’!

The public voting period to select your favorite piece of art runs Monday, June 14 through Wednesday, June 24. The finalists artwork can be viewed at the following downtown locations: Cleary’s Pub, the Howell Opera House, Silverstone Jewelers, and Mom & Pop’s Bakery.
When viewing the artwork, the community can vote for their favorite piece by texting the code displayed on each art piece. Votes can also be submitted online at All votes will be compiled at the close of public voting, with the winner being announced at the Public Art Unveil and Celebration ceremony where top artwork will be prominently displayed on the exterior of downtown businesses. The unveil and celebration ceremony is planned for August 6, 2015.

“Art creates a sense of place and really ties the community together.” states Main Street DDA Director, Cathleen Edgerly. “Our Design Committee was pleased to bring back the Howell Art Project and share great pieces of seasonal-themed artwork with our residents and visitors. We encourage everyone visiting our participating downtown businesses and voting for their favorites to be displayed later this summer on buildings throughout the downtown district.”
