Lights, camera, action on the 2017 Camera Jam Showcase presented by the Historic Howell Theater on Friday, June 16 at 7 p.m. An encore screening is set for Saturday, June 17 at 4 p.m. at HHT. More than 20 local Michigan filmmakers are featured this year with a two-hour running time. A wide range of genres including sci-fi, horror, home movies, documentaries and more will be screened. Camera Jam Showcase is an open projector event which means no judges, film guidelines or awards are part of this event.
The goal of the Camera Jam Showcase is to give people the opportunity to present their stories on the big screen. Emphasis is on storytelling and not technology. "We have a couple of shorts which were shot on i phones this year," said Tyler DePerro, HHT owner. This year is the third Camera Jam Showcase hosted by the Historic Howell Theater. "We strongly urge parental guidance regarding Camera Jam as these films are not rated. Camera Jam admission is free.
