Howell Main Street Inc. will host a community input forum this Tuesday, October 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Block Brewing Co. All business and property owners, Howell residents, developers and those looking to open a business in the community, are invited to attend and provide their input regarding what they would like to see in their downtown. This community forum is the 2nd step in Main Street’s strategic planning for the future growth and success of downtown Howell. The consultant-based service is provided at no cost due to the support of Main Street America and the Michigan Main Street Center.
Howell Main Street and downtown Howell won the Great American Main Street Award in 2018. But the Main Street organization promised the community then that this wasn’t the end for downtown Howell or Howell Main Street Inc.
“In order for our downtown community to continue to thrive and grow in a way that the community will support 10-20 plus years down the road, we need to be strategic in our development and planning approach. And in order to do this, we always need to be looking towards and planning for the future.” states Howell Main Street Inc. C.O.O. and Downtown Development Director, Cathleen Edgerly. Downtown Howell has long-served as the heart and hub of our community, but we want to ensure downtown Howell, and therefore the entire city, can be a sustainable destination for both our residents and visitors. We look forward to having everyone join us tomorrow night at Block Brewing during some portion of the input forum.”
Thursday evening, November 1, there will be a follow-up ‘Unveil Open House’ at the Howell Carnegie District Library from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Meabon Room. Here, community members, business owners, developers, etc. will be able to review the results of the community survey as well as view development options that were designed following Tuesday’s Community Forum.
