A special documentary, Our Fires Still Burn: The Native American Experience, will be presented at the Howell Opera House on Wednesday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m.
The compelling film was developed by Brighton independent video producer Audrey Geyer and her non-profit company, Visions. The documentary has been airing on PBS stations in Michigan, including Detroit WTVS.
The powerful one-hour film invites the audience into the lives of contemporary Native American role models living in the Midwest, especially Michigan. It dispels many myths about the American Indians, confronts the challenges the culture faces today, and demonstrates how they use their ancestral teachings to educate and initiate social change.
A question and answer period with producer Audrey Geyer will follow the film. Admission is $8 per person at the door. No reservations are required
